Development director - Full Time

The Development Director is an invaluable team member, strengthening the organization’s financial positioning by leading all development efforts to secure funds necessary to sustain current mission and new initiatives.

Reporting directly to and working closely with the Executive Director, the Development Director also works with key members of the staff, Board of Directors, donors, volunteers and others. This position oversees the work of three direct report positions in their roles to meet fundraising and organizational goals.

Duties & Responsibilities 

Donor Engagement and Relations

  • Leads the effort to establish, cultivate and steward strong relationships with donors.

  • Coordinates donor stewardship and cultivation events, with the assistance of other staff.

  • Creates individual donor/prospect cultivation plans. Cultivates and solicits major gifts. This includes working with members of the Board of Directors, development committee, and volunteers.

  • Collaborates to create direct mail pieces or other solicitation materials to generate funds toward these annual funds.

  • Identifies, researches and writes funding proposals to foundations and other organizations. Develops relationships with key personnel and Directors at these institutions. Assures grant reporting requirements are fulfilled in a timely manner.

  • Solicits in-kind gifts, matching gifts, and other funding sources.

Annual and Strategic Planning

  • Develop and implement an annual fundraising strategy.

  • Create, manage and oversee budget for annual operations, campaigns and events.

  • Analyze benchmarks, track and report on fundraising budgets.

Marketing and Communications

  • Supervises Volunteer Coordinator who manages/maintains relationships with volunteers.

  • Creates PR strategy and marketing materials.

  • Oversee social media and cultivate media relationships.

Event Management

  • Provides overall direction and solicits sponsorships of special fundraising events. Supports, provides information and encouragement for special fundraising event committees.

  • Oversees Development Coordinator.

Other Duties

  • Oversees implementation of Fund Development Calendar.

  • Oversees database management, including data entry and reporting.

  • Builds and maintains positive working relationships with the Board, volunteers, and staff.

  • Assesses fund development operations and recommends improvements to the Executive Director.

  • Remains current with all aspects of philanthropy, ensures Iron Gate's fundraising is conducted within the highest ethical and legal standards, complies with the Association of Fundraising Professionals code of ethics, and maintains confidentiality of all donor records.

Education and Experience 

Required: Bachelor's degree in related field. Minimum 7-10 years of experience directly applicable to the primary work required. Passion for Iron Gate’s mission and initiatives. Positive, energetic, and outgoing attitude with a strong work ethic, team-player mentality, and willingness and ability to adapt to changing scenarios. Out-of-the-box strategic thinking, self-motivated, committed and able to implement plans that support moving the organization forward.

Preferred: Certification specializing in fundraising credentialed from the Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) International.

This is a full-time, exempt position with health, PTO, 401K, matching and other benefits. Salary commensurate with experience. Some weekend and evening work required.

Pantry Assistant - Part Time

The Pantry Assistant position will support Iron Gate's mission by helping with Grocery Pantry. Sorting, restocking, packing, and distributing pantry items. This position works directly with volunteers and helps the operations team with grocery pick-ups as needed. Other duties as assigned.

Education:
Minimum: High School diploma or equivalent with three years of related experience

Part-Time - 8am - 4pm
20+ hours a week
